Apiculture

Apiculture is the practice of handling bees with utmost sensitivity and care while collecting their honey and other products like beeswax, pollen, propolis, and royal jelly. Apiculture is a critical process of the agricultural ecosystem. The ecosystem provides essential agricultural services, such as grazing, water preservation, increased soil fertilisation, and most importantly pollination amongst others. Without honey bee pollination, it is estimated that about one-third of the world’s crops we consume would have to be pollinated by other means, which will be unnatural and may be harmful to our bodies.

Alternatively, crop production will be significantly lower, compromising food security. It’s also important to note that pollination is critical in crops and plants only, as animals also need mediated pollination to reproduce and stimulate other ecosystem services like the wild habitats providing them with indirect insect pollination. It is our intent as Minosolve to guide, develop skills and remove barriers to entry to the BEE Economy through a comprehensive Apiculture Programme including business planning, management, and marketing thereof.

Horticulture

Horticulture is the art of the development, sustainable production, and intensive cultivation of food and ornamental plants. Horticultural crops are diverse, including perennial species, fruits, vegetables, and decorative plants, both indoors and outdoors. Bees are very important and if not the most important participants in a horticultural process.

Apiculture and Horticulture are very intertwined processes, their success depends on each other. The absence of the other will definitely compromise the sustainability and the yield of the other. Minosolve saw the complementary nature of these two processes and resolved to offer a comprehensive program on Plant Production along with business modules to guide the participants in establishing their own ventures.

Tractor Driving - Code B (5)

A tractor and other mobile machinery are the mainstays of any farming concern, hence tractors are present in almost all farming concerns. These equipment are expensive and need to be treated with care. You must be 18 years or older to take the code B driver's license test.

The code B(5) driving license in South Africa authorises you to operate tractor and mobile machinery vehicles. This skill is required in almost all farming operations as at some point, farming implements, ingredients, and sprayers need to be moved around. Minosolve offers basic training on tractor driving.
